About Pied Pipers in Politics
Jan. 3rd, 2026 04:59 pmI've already tried writing about how this is used in show business, and now I'll try writing about politics. The main difference here is that in show business, these technologies are usually used to induce not only just emotional but also love addiction on the Pied Piper. In politics, however, it's only emotional. And the main goal here is no longer to extract attention and a little money from every amorous fan, but to force the entire controlled population to follow the Pied Piper and carry out his every command. Even those that completely contradict common sense. Just in case, I want to emphasize that all of these things can be verified with fairly simple experiments.
The essence of this technology is that it distorts the perception of a specific figure (the Pied Piper) on an emotional level. As a result, this figure becomes very popular and begins to generously share their state with others—insecurity, apathy, depression, and even madness. A Pied Piper is always a person with low energy. These are precisely the kind of people chosen for this purpose, but in show business this happens by necessity, while in politics it's deliberate. Initially, serious mental disorders are rare; they are an extreme case. However, over time, the Pied Piper may indeed develop significant mental health issues as a result of such activities.
Addiction develops if you frequently look at the Pied Piper and listen to his voice. It develops in people who were initially attracted to him for some reason, and then it becomes ingrained. If the Pied Piper is a major politician, a great many people fall under his spell. It's simply the law of large numbers. It's practically impossible not to look at him and listen to his voice, but you still have to do it from time to time.
What's important is that the Pied Piper is also portrayed in a specific way. The same techniques used in show business are used here: slow camera pans, close-ups, self-objectification. If you look closely at the Pied Piper, you'll see that he behaves in a certain way. He fidgets, frequently looks around, changes his facial expression, and twirls something in his hands. He displays spontaneity. He also often displays a childish, naive expression. There's always something childish about Pied Pipers. This is largely due to the fact that the Pied Piper must position himself as an object of universal support and care, so someone with suitable traits is chosen for this role (if this choice is made consciously). He also learns certain antics.
Thanks to all these tricks, the politician begins to be perceived as a close, trustworthy person—even as a beloved relative who needs to be supported and cared for. And at the same time, he seems stronger, smarter, and more energetic than he actually is.
The Pied Piper always evokes strong emotions. The words and actions of a figure who doesn't employ manipulations are perceived far more critically than those of the Pied Piper. If the Pied Piper-politician evokes genuine physical revulsion, this is also due to the effect of his pipe, and not just his policies.
Once addiction develops, the perception of the Pied Piper and his actions will become increasingly distorted unless it can be overcome. Importantly, such addiction not only compels behavior but is also detrimental to health. Physically, it's somewhat similar to the effects of radiation, except the effect is psychic. It causes depression of the nervous system, weakened immunity, and, as a result, psychosomatic illnesses. However, it can also cause mental disorders. However, compared to radiation, the effect of the pipe is somewhat weaker; it only has a particularly strong effect in certain cases.
A political Pied Piper is far more dangerous than a showbiz Pied Piper. The former has a much larger audience (if they're truly a major politician, especially a head of state). And the effect of strong resonance is more common. Strong resonance occurs when the Pied Piper and the victim have much in common, making them particularly appealing. (I'll use the word "victim" here because it's the most appropriate. It objectively captures what's happening).
But the victim in this case does not pine away from love, as is the case with the Pied Piper from show business. Instead, she feels euphoria and a desire to do what the Pied Piper calls for. Her brain allocates energy only for this, while her overall energy level is lowered. In this case, the desire to deprive her of energy is entirely logical. It is very difficult to control people with truly high energy levels. To turn them into a manageable crowd, you need to lower it to a certain point. So that they have the strength to carry out the Pied Piper's orders, but lack the strength to resist or even comprehend what is happening. This is how you get fanatics willing to do anything under the command of their favorite dictator. A veritable zombie crowd, and on the scale of even a single country, that's a very large number.
And this dependence really does have a negative impact on physical health. And the best part is that ordinary people themselves will never realize that the media image of a major politician (head of state) can be the main source of mass apathy. And if you tell them this directly, they simply won't believe it. They'll dismiss it as "nonsense and conspiracy theories".
Only awareness of what's happening can help here. But it must happen en masse. That is, it must be clearly stated in the public space that what's happening is absolutely abnormal. And the Pied Piper himself must begin to evoke fear and rejection, a desire to get rid of him, to dethrone him for the sake of one's own safety.
At the end of the post, I'll write about the evidence (based on two posts - about Pied Pipers in show business and about Pied Pipers in politics).
If all this seems implausible to you, you can try an experiment. Try listening to a Pied Piper sing frequently and regularly and see how your state changes. A particularly dangerous Pied Piper. It's much the same with politicians. Only with politicians you need to watch and listen to their speeches. But only frequently and regularly, and then the effect will become noticeable. A Pied Piper politician is a "popularly adored dictator." It is among them that you should look for Pied Pipers.
